Job Description

Highways England is recruiting a Tactical & Performance Analyst based in our

Guildford Office. You will analyse data, produce and communicate intelligence products to support business, and tactical decision making and performance improvement for the South East region. You will also maintain effective communication with relevant stakeholders and develop and share intelligence, contributing to the development of national guidelines and targets.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop an understanding of the measures and targets applied to monitor the Company's performance, the criteria used as part of the measures and the factors and decisions that would influence a change in performance levels.
  • Devise appropriate intelligence supporting regional tactical analysis against performance strategies and targets.
  • Provide insight and intelligence into network issues as required.
  • Support the development of current and future intelligence gathering tools
  • Provide intelligence products to external stakeholders and regional management meetings.
  • Manage resources to ensure delivery of intelligence by priority.
  • Develop and mentor the wider regional community to use intelligence effectively.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with national and regional intelligence colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Assess safety performance to minimise risks, develop improvements and escalate issues with relevant authorities in a timely manner and carry out any tasks identified to the post in the Level 2 and relevant 2a Organisational Health & Safety RACI charts

Experience/Skills/Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Experience of working in an analytical unit and/or data analysis role.
  • Ability to work with large and complex databases to produce analytical reports
  • Able to analyse problems and provide intelligence-based recommendations.
  • Capable of delivery in a complex customer facing organisation.
  • Able to work successfully with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to maximise delivery.
  • Advanced MS Excel skills, proficient in other MS Office software and working knowledge of SQL
  • Experience of using GIS based analytical techniques.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of transport infrastructure issues
