Job Description

Highways England are currently recruiting a talented Risk & Value Manager- based in any of our regional offices. (Birmingham, Bedford, Exeter, Bristol, Guildford, Bedford, Leeds and Manchester.)

The role:

As Risk & Value Manager you will manage a team responsible for scheduling and running workshops, ensuring quality outputs are captured in a timely manner providing an evidence base upon which the project or programme will progress. He or she will facilitate some workshops and assist with training other facilitators internally and accrediting where external resources are required.

Day to day:

  • Setting the standard for external VM resources where used assuring accreditation, training and quality and drive and embed VM Culture across the Regional Investment Programme to increase process maturity
  • Assure the application of Value Management across the RIP programme, managing the logistics of Value management, maintaining an approved list of Facilitator and Challenger resources through a small number of in house Value Engineers
  • Contribute to asset and delivery plans through the application of Risk & Value (R&V) Management techniques, capturing residual risks and capitalising on opportunities to increase scheme benefits and efficiencies.
  • Champion Whole Life Value decision making in Value Management Processes
  • Leading a small dynamic team, the role holder will engage with stakeholders to optimise the investment on projects.
  • Maintain key interfaces in RIP Delivery teams, RIP Delivery Services, Asset Management, Network Operations and Strategy & Planning

About you:

  • Awareness of cost and commercial processes within the infrastructure industry
  •  Analytical and decision making
  • Experience of structured problem solving
  • Experience of integrated risk, asset management and value tools and  techniques
  •  Knowledge of applying Value Management and Value Engineering to asset and technical standards
  •  An excellent communicator and influencer
  •  Business Risk and project Risk Management
  • Facilitation experience in workshops and working groups
  •  Good knowledge of Benefits management process
  • Knowledge of project and programme business case development processing
  • Leading high performing teams
  • Educated to a degree level in a relevant scientific, economic or engineering discipline
