Job Description

The Role:

  • To provide advice and active support to Highways England teams and appropriate project managers, to manage the impact of HS2 construction activity on the network, with a particular focus on property issues.
  • To provide advice and active support to Highways England teams and appropriate project managers, to manage the impact of Heathrow Airport expansion on the network, with a particular focus on property issues.

Day to Day:

  • Providing reliable, accurate and professionally-sound property advice to project managers and others.
  • Giving clear leadership and direction on all property matters.
  • Managing any associated budgets, expenditure and forecasts.
  • Managing any engagement of the company’s property supply chain (solicitors, valuers and managing agents) in this work, liaising as appropriate with other managers in Property and Compensation Division
  • Establishing, managing and developing a small team to support these activities and any associated case management.
  • Attending any appropriate public consultations to provide advice on property matters.
  • Taking every opportunity to drive improvements in health and safety performance across this sphere of activity.

About you: 

  • Knowledge and experience of working with property matters within in a programme/project environment, including at least a good understanding of compulsory purchase methodology and property law.                            
  • Knowledge and experience of operational management issues on the live highway network.                
  • Evidence of successfully engaging with internal colleagues and external stakeholders    
  • A relevant property or legal qualification, or the willingness to work towards one  with the support of the Company.
  • Experience of leading people successfully, enhancing their capability and focussing on effectiveness.
  • Experience of contract/supplier management at a leadership level
