Job Description

Highways England are currently recruiting talented Performance and Reporting Manager to be based in our either our Birmingham / Manchester / Leeds office.

Role Purpose:

As Performance and Reporting Manager you will be required to drive a strong performance culture across the Regional Investment Programme (RIP) actively owning and managing its project and programmes.

To advise the Regional Investment Programme (RIP) senior management on Programme Performance; successes, threats, opportunities and issues, and to prompt timely management intervention.


  • Demonstrate and engender Highways England values; Safety, Integrity, Passion, Teamwork and Ownership.
  • Own the RIP reporting and review processes.
  • Advise and inform the Programme Director, Head of PMO and SLT on Performance issues
  • Consolidates Management Information from regional teams to ensure one source of the truth reporting for the national RIP Programme
  • Owns the regular RIP monthly reports and ensures they are produced in accordance with the RIP reporting cycle. Ensure consistency of Regional reports.
  • Ensures all proposed reports have been produced in accordance with agreed processes and procedures
  • Manage the process of the Monthly Reporting Cycle for RIP and ensure business alignment with Portfolio Office Capital Portfolio and others.Responsible for the adherence of data lockdown for Primavera P6, Oracle and other reporting source system data
  • Monitor and interrogate programme performance at all levels to identify threats to programme objectives
  • Establish & monitor KPI’s performance
  • Establish and monitor trends as necessary to drive performance
  • Collaborate  with other Project Controls functions to set processes and procedures to allow reporting of  Programme Risk & Opportunities.
  • Work with Planning and Cost functions to develop EVM reporting and progress metrics
  • Co-ordinate reporting requests from portfolio office, capital portfolio management and others, through regional PMO teams and provide consolidated, informed and timely responses
  • Identifying & resolve data quality issues
  • Supports the review and refinement of reporting systems, processes and outputs
  • Contribute to and support in the development and implementation of the Major Projects reporting tool
  • Liaise with the Finance business partners, Regional PMO teams, Portfolio Office and others.

You will have:

  • Ability to Lead and influence Strategically
  • Experience of Owning & Operating Reporting & review frameworks
  • Specialist knowledge eg. EVM, Scheduling, Risks
  • Strong IT skills & knowledge especially Reporting & Dashboard tools
  • Evidence of analytical skills
