Job Description

Highways England is recruiting for an on Road Team Manager to be based at:

Milton Common Outstation, London Road, Milton Common, Thame Oxfordshire OX92JN

You will operate in a safety critical role to provide first line management of traffic officers to deliver the objectives of Highways England and to achieve the required level of performance. You will be responsible for the appropriate utilisation of resources to deliver effective incident management to minimise the impact of congestion whilst maintaining a focus on safety and ‘journey time’ reliability. The safety of yourself, your colleagues, other stakeholders and road users will be your overriding objective.

Day to day

  • Take personal responsibility for the health and safety of yourself and others by challenging, reporting and acting on any unsafe activities or conditions
  • Lead the team to deliver a professional frontline service by developing and maintaining a positive and collaborative relationship with colleagues, partners and stakeholders, enabling effective and timely resolution of any incidents affecting our network.
  • Manage and seek ways to improve operational performance against agreed business objectives.
  • Monitor and manage the performance of your team.
  • Maintain and promote positive  relationships and engagement with the public and key on-road/RCC partners and stakeholders

About you

  • A strong track record of delivering outcomes and achievements in a customer focussed organisation.
  • Experience of building and maintaining strong professional relationships to deliver results outside immediate team
  • Experience of incident management and working within the on-road environment.
  • Hold a full valid UK driving licence for 2 years with no more than 3 points on your licence (at the time of sending in your application)
  • Live within one hour's commutable distance of the vacancy location, experience of  building and maintaining strong professional   relationships to deliver results outside immediate team
