Job Description

Highways England is currently recruiting for Technical Content Author to provide the technical content for future technology requirements of Volumes 2, 8 and 9 of the Design Manual for Roads & Bridges.

You will develop new and existing material to ensure it reflects industry best practice in technical documentation, encourages innovation and wherever possible creates efficiency. 

Day to day

  • Develop technical documents to ensure they are written in a clear and understandable format with regard to the  intended audience and which comply with the relevant EU & UK legislation
  • Work with other Content Specialists to ensure consistency in the revised DMRB documentation.
  • Ensure all revised technology related DMRB documents are fit for the future, reflect industry best practice, encourage innovation and create efficiency.
  • Ensure effective stakeholder engagement on operational technology documentation with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide support to the wider team to ensure all developments are effectively communicated and understood by internal & external stakeholders and are embedded into business as usual practice.
  • Keep abreast of developments, innovations and industry best practice - ensure effective application and integration as appropriate.

About you

  • A degree/qualification in a relevant technical discipline, e.g. BEng (Electrical), or relevant experience of designing and developing policy documents or standards.
  • Experience of reviewing and writing technical documents working with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience of collaborating with a broad range of stakeholders and lead a shared way forward where views / perspectives may differ.
