Job Description

Highways England is currently recruiting for a Commercial Assistant (Administrator) to be based in Mansfield.

Formerly the Highways Agency, Highways England is the new Government company that operates, maintains and improves England’s network of motorways and major A roads. This network is around 4,300 miles long and while it represents only 2 per cent of all roads in England by length it carries a third of all traffic by mileage as well as two thirds of heavy goods traffic. We have around 3,500 staff based in seven offices around the country including a uniformed Traffic Officer service in control centres and patrolling key areas of the network. Highways England is accountable to two bodies who act on behalf of the public – The Office of Rail and Roads monitor the performance of our highways and Transport Focus champion the needs of road users.

Key responsibilities:

Administrator:

  • Collate enquiry information and task order information and produce relevant paperwork for checking prior to issue
  • Perform archiving and filing duties as and when required
  • Prepare and issue supply chain communications and monitor required responses
  • Taking and producing meeting minutes

General:

  • Manage own work according to business need, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Collect, retrieve and collate data through effective liaison.
  • Contribute to an engaged, efficient team.
  • Accept personal responsibility for safety of self and others, reporting unsafe conditions and near miss incidents

Experience/Skills/Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 A-C grades GCSE or equivalent, preferably including English and maths
  • Ability to use office software products to contribute to production / maintenance of a range of documents and spreadsheets
  • Ability to work effectively with others in an office environment or delivering an efficient customer service
  • Ability to communicate effectively
