Job Description

The role

You will lead on the effective management of a prioritised programme of works, driving efficiencies in service delivery to improve financial and operational performance and minimise financial and reputational risks. You will drive improvements in health and safety performance and customer / stakeholder engagement and services delivered as part of the programme of works.

Day to day

  • Lead on the effective management of service delivery to agreed performance and quality levels for the full term of any contract, ensuring risks to delivery are treated in a timely manner.
  • Ensure robust governance of contracts through effective resource allocation and management.
  • Ensure reporting and recording is used to identify options and opportunities for improvement in service quality, performance, delivery and pricing.
  • Lead on the regular assessment of contractual and commercial risks and maintenance of a risk register of factors affecting business continuity, using learning to develop and manage effective contingency planning.
  • Develop and maintain professional and technical partnerships with suppliers and other stakeholders to manage the relationship between customer and service users, enabling early identification of problems and the timely resolution of issues.
  • Provide effective leadership of team and put in place the necessary performance and development arrangements to build high performing teams.
  • Fulfil the express obligations of the Service Manager as may reasonably be delegated to this role.
  • Drive improvements in health and safety performance ensuring effective practice is promulgated to staff and partners and carry out any tasks identified to the post in the Level 2 and relevant 2a Organisational Health & Safety RACI charts

 

About you

  • Strong commercial skills with the ability to engage effectively with professional, technical and other service delivery partners at all levels, and with different technical understanding.
  • Highly Competent negotiator able to maximise delivery and achieve best value from supply chain
  • Knowledge and understanding of industry best practice in service delivery.
  • Technical contractual knowledge and experience in the management of a major transport network infrastructure (preferably roads)
  • Evidence of applying programme management techniques.
  • Strong evidence of effective people management skills
