Working in Leeds, reporting into the IT Finance Business Partner, this is an exciting opportunity to support a complex and growing area of the business.
You will provide day to day advice on finance matters whilst forming strong connections within the wider finance teams and stakeholders across the business, particularly in IT, to establish effective business partnering relationships.
Day to day
Your role will involve presenting, reviewing and influencing budgets and forecast outcomes. You will communicate financial results, adding insight through identification of key issues in business performance. You will recognise financial risks, for mitigation and opportunities, for utilisation.
You will contribute to other strategic and commercial decision making to drive the short, medium and long term performance and delivery of the IT Strategy.
Supporting the development of robust business cases, you will support on financial aspects, from inception to final review. You will partake in ensuring that the IDC process is understood and complied with and that appropriate consultations are made thereby improving the quality of the business cases produced. You will be required to attend project boards and hold regular meetings with IT stakeholders.
Where necessary you will support the implementation of software upgrades and any other system changes to ensure that information quality is robust and suitable to inform decision making.
You will seek to continuously improve processes and adherence to governance and provide training to other directorates where appropriate.
Part-Qualified Accountant or equivalent experience is desirable.
Knowledge of Highways England systems and month-end processes is desirable.
You will have good technical knowledge and an ability to manipulate and use financial information and data to inform and support commercial decision making.
You will have exceptional communication skills and an influential style with an ability to build collaborative relationships.
You will be able to summarise and explain financial issues succinctly.
You will be a problem solver and inquisitive; willing to challenge the way things are done.
You will be used to both BAU and project environments and familiar with corporate governance.
